Created because I had the song "Get Motivated" by LoMalo ft. jstlbby stuck in my head. An earworm I'll love forever. GET YOUR MOTHERFUCKIN SHINE ON TODAY<3
An ode to Oklahoma camping and nighttime cloud-gazing.
Created as a self-inflicted inkblot test. It was a desperate attempt to combat creative block while also using my tools to gain perspective and self-soothe. I was losing my sense of self and had a hard time keeping my head above water. "Going with the flow" felt impossible. As I was refining it, the song "Slipping Away" by LEISURE came on and it gave me a chuckle. I'm a sucker for little synchronicities like that. Do you ever have moments where you feel seen by the universe in a really small way? If not, I hope you look for them. I promise that they're there <3
Don't Panic is an acrylic painting finished digitally, created for my dad. His constant encouragement to keep looking up, both literally and metaphorically, is something I try to hold onto in difficult moments. He's inspired my love of all things space and sci-fi. He reminds me not to panic, even when I feel like I'm in a total free-fall. Thanks, Dad<3 (He has the original, which was finished by hand with a fine-liner in a simpler style, and sans typography)
Inspired by Microwave's lyric in "Homebody". Created at a buddy's house when I wanted to be non-verbal and social at the same time. (A sneak peek at Doodle's face??)
Created after Trump's second inauguration. Inspired by Hugh's declaration in Star Trek: The Next Generation. Resistance is never futile, no matter how powerful the enemy may be.
Inspired by the song "Where the Heart Is" by Sweet Pill. A new favorite band of mine, and I found them through this song. At the time, I was questioning whether or not I could do this. My fear of rejection has been the only thing standing in my way for so long, and I felt viciously frustrated with myself for not even trying. This song resonated deeply as I was contemplating going back to a desk job, knowing how empty and depressed it would make me feel.
Space Rocks is a multi-media illustration inspired by my love of both outer and personal space. The catch, though, is that both are vacuums. If you're not mindful, you might drift too far.
What in Carnation?!
